Q: How do I submit a sitemap to Google?

Host sitemap.xml on your domain root and submit it in Google Search Console under the Sitemaps section.

Build a minimal `urlset` you can host at `/sitemap.xml`. Duplicate URLs are removed; `lastmod` defaults to today’s UTC date.

FAQ

50k URL / 50MB limits?

Split into sitemap index files when approaching protocol caps; ping Search Console after major changes, not every deploy.

lastmod honesty?

Inflated lastmod dates erode trust—Google may ignore them if always “now”. Update only when content meaningfully changes.

hreflang or news sitemaps?

Those require specialized XML namespaces beyond this generator—use CMS plugins or consultant templates.

SPA routes?

Only include URLs that return 200 with unique content; hash-only client routes often should not be listed unless configured for crawling.

Priority field impact?

It is a hint, not a guarantee—do not expect priority=1.0 to force instant indexing.

Privacy URLs?

Anything listed is discoverable—never drop secret admin paths into sitemaps.
